An Austrian Artist Creates Eerie Illustrations Featuring Various Creepy Motives

Stefan Koidl is an Austrian freelance illustrator, who produces eerie illustrations in Photoshop. His works feature various creepy motives, which range from urban legends to mythical creatures.

Stefan said he’s been drawing since he was a little kid but began focusing on drawing professionally about three years back. When asked what inspires him to create these spooky drawings, the artist stated:”Artists, films, games. I always wanted to make paintings such as the”professionals” do. A huge inspiration is, also, the capacity to paint things out of your creativity, creating your”own worlds” Stefan says some of their most influential artists for him are Feng Zhu, Sabbas Apterus, John Park, Darek Zabrocki, Greg Rutkowski and Simon StÃ¥lenhag.

When asked how long it usually takes for him to complete his functions, Stefan told us

“It’s hard to tell when a drawing is finished, I mostly call it done after 6-10 hours.” Even though his works feature a few funny illustrations, like the one with the squirrel in The Shining bathroom scene, most of his works are focused around various creepy things. “It’s just fun to draw, I like playing with the “fear”,”  stated Stefan.

A Russian Artist Designs Colorful Embroidery of Home Interiors

Russian artist Elena Moart combines her love of interior layout with textile art in her home-inspired embroidery designs. Her detailed works feature enchanting configurations complete with classic furniture, patterned background, house plants, and even miniature artworks hung on the walls. Each piece is full of texture and tonal details, creating familiar scenes that appear almost real enough to step inside the embroidery hoop and live within the artist‘s textile world.

Handmade from colorful woolen threads stitched onto cotton, Moart’s living rooms and bedrooms start as original illustrations. Old leather chairs, tufted carpets, and toss pillows are left with various textural embroidery stitches–a skill that Moart taught herself.

The artist reveals,”Since childhood, I’ve loved creating something with my hands…I really like trying something new, so I fell for embroidery and eventually become self-trained in this craft.”

Moart is now selling a lot of her layouts as DIY embroidery kits on Etsy. Regardless of your ability level, you will have everything you need to begin stitching your interior design-inspired embroidery. And what better subject to start with?
