Duffy London Expands ‘Abyss’ Collection and Depicts The Beauty of Ocean Depth In A Sculpture

Duffy London keeps on expanding its ‘Abyss’ collection and materializing ocean depth in wood and glass, presenting the new ‘Abyss Wall Relief,’ an almost one meter in diameter wall sculpture introducing the majesty of this deep blue into the interior. The abyssal art bit is immediately putting you in your mind to stories of flat ground is restricted to only 25 variations.

The method that Duffy London uses is considered unique although it’s pretty simple — the designers put thick sheets of pale blue glass on one another to achieve a gradient of this color which darkens as more layers are included. In spite of how the studio’s bits are traditionally functional too and superbly made, the new wall aid only conveys a decorative value of an abyss looking back while observed.

Otherworldly Biomorphic Ceramic Sculptures by Sara Catapano

Sara Catapano‘s ceramic figurines seem as absorbing, nevertheless disconcerting biomorphic forms that defy their medium. Even though there are otherworldly attributes to these pieces, the artist’s observations here on Earth play a direct role in the creation of her work. She says that “these bio-expressive forms are, in some ways, reactions and responses to social and personal experiences.”

“The association between the natural world and the metropolis of man is, at times, harmonious; nevertheless it’s a habitual power battle for dominance, progression, and survival,” the artist says. “I employ forms, textures, and compositions found in nature as design components in my sculptures to juxtapose against architectural components that exist in materials reminiscent of an industry. I fuse an abstracted reference to plants, bacteria, and geological methods with patterns of growth, decay, degradation, erosion, and gestation to produce a biomorphic component which both faces and reacts to the minimal and formalistic component.”

An Urban Project Encircled by Lush Biodiversity Wins Imagine Angers Design Competition

International architecture contest, Imagine Angers, requested designers to create an innovative solution for one of six sites in Angers, France. Paris-based architecture firm WY-TO and Crespy & Aumont Architectes interlaced the natural landscape with a modern lifestyle for many ages within their winning style, Arborescence.

Arborescence is an inter-generational mixed-use design proposition. The website, Gambetta, overlooks the Maine river bank on the border of a historical district and recent development, simultaneously. To reach a certain level of urban biodiversity, a lush backyard is encircled with a balanced assortment of community and private spaces.

The app includes senior housing, 15 residential units, a childcare center, co-working spaces, and amenities. Components were created with comfort and flexibility in mind; for possible future growth or reconfiguration. Arborescence not only merges international influences with local culture, but would also contribute to the economy by creating new jobs, supporting startups, and encourage art.
