Photo Manipulations of “Hybrid Cities” by Margarita Zhitnik & Duck Knees

Digital artist Margarita Zhitnik collaborated with art director Duck Knees to create these unbelievable mashups of iconic places for Expedia.

“If you’ve watched Disney’s animated feature Big Hero 6, you are knowledgeable about the city of San Fransokyo — a mash-up between San Francisco and Tokyo. Well, the view of the Golden Gate Bridge amidst Japanese-style architecture caused us to make a few fusions of our very own.

We chose 14 iconic cities from all over the globe and paired them with hybrid towns. From New York to Rome, Rio de Janeiro to Cape Town and beyond, we merged the distinct attractions and architecture from each city to create a really distinctive destination. Planning a city break and have no clue where to start? These mash-ups will motivate you to design the perfect trip.”

German Artist Justin Peters Merges Unrelated Images Into Magical Photo Combinations

German self-taught Photoshop expert Justin Peters visualizes surreal fantasies in his growing portfolio of digital art. Encouraged by Pablo Picasso’s quote, “Everything you can imagine is real,” Peters’ photo-manipulations blend irrelevant, real-life photographs together to create enchanting worlds straight from the artist’s mind.

Peters first became interested in photography in 2015, but quickly realized he did not want his images to depict reality. Instead, he learned how to edit his photographs on YouTube and began creating unique digital art inspired by surrealist painters.

From turning carnival rides over erupting volcanoes to glowing jellyfish swimming at the skies, Peters’ playful digital collages are created using digital stock photos. A number of the unexpected combinations include vision from science and nature that have been awarded the artist’s distinct surrealist twist.

Peters explains,”I expect that if folks experience my work, they discover that a new and different world, which they could dive to demonstrate that everything is possible once you open your head”

A Photographer Merges Time-Lapses of Athletic Events in Composite Photographs

Photographer Pelle Cass documents the action and movement that happens at sporting events at a unique series of masterfully edited pictures named ‘Crowded Fields.’ Cass subsequently spent heaps of hours editing the photos to arrive at the final composition.

Even though the graphics are highly manipulated, with over five hundred Photoshop layers involved, Cass notes each and every figure stays in the first place and position they were at at the time the photograph was taken. His compositional effort is to understand and convey the visual narrative that unfolded over the course of the sporting event. The artist told to Colossal, “I scroll up and down, over and above looking for figures I think are fascinating. It is a little like slow-motion Tetris, attempting to fit various shapes into various spaces. Then, with luck, a set of coincidences or a kind of gesture or plasma idea starts to emerge.”

Cass, who has been taking photographs for nearly fifty years, improved his current method over time. The particular idea of utilizing sporting events because his canvas took a decade. He describes his motivation to create these dizzyingly complex graphics:

“I think that traditional single-exposure photographs distort by their inhuman briefness. The eye never sees a single moment… If you come home in a hockey game, you might remember a few specific images of big plays, but otherwise, your memory of a game is a little more like a general belief of many-figured bustle and activity.”

This Guy Photoshops Life-Sized Plastic Godzilla into His Travel Photos

Photographer Kieran Murray photoshopped Godzilla figurine to make it look life-sized.

According to the photographer: “You’ve heard of the traveling gnome, now I present a travel Godzilla figurine I have photoshopped to look life-sized. His name is Ryan and we travel all around, getting into all sorts of shenanigans.

Travelling on your own is amazing, but it may be frustrating to have a stranger shoot a photo of you in front of the milestone simply to observe that its framed horribly or out of focus. I came across this plastic souvenir in Chicago and decided that it was easier to take photographs of it in front of landmarks rather. Ever since then it evolved into the Ryan personality and has been a means for me to build up my photoshop skills.”
