3 Steps To Becoming the Best Version of Yourself

If you’ve ever looked up personal growth content before, you are likely to find things on how to be healthier, wealthier, or be more productive. All of this is fine and can help you to improve yourself and become better at what you do. But one thing that is neglecting to address is that you do need to ask yourself what kind of person you want to be. You could become the healthiest and wealthiest version of yourself, but is it going to be worth anything if you are so greedy and vain that no one wants to be with you so that you’re all alone? Which is why having a motivation to improve can really be the thing that will help you in the long term; what is your motivation for change?

With all of that in mind, here are some of the things that you can do to make sure that you are able to become the best version of yourself. Would you add anything else to the list?

Educate Yourself

One of the best things that you can do to motivate and push yourself to be the best that you can be is to be well educated. It can help you to boost your career, as well as being a better and more interesting person to be around. You could look for something career specific to study, such as an online masters in leadership, or choose to learn things through books, blogs, and podcasts. Keep being curious and keep learning and pushing yourself to know more.

Stop Fearing Failure

If you fear failure then it can really hold you back and stop you from doing some things that could otherwise be pretty beneficial to you. Fearing that you won’t be able to do something will stop you from being the best version of yourself, as well as stop you from achieving all that you want to. It can put you off doing things and won’t allow for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. So that is something that needs to be stopped right away. It can be a good note to remember that failing is just your first attempt at doing something; you can try again and again to get it done.

Be a Little Selfish

Now hear me out on this. Being completely selfish isn’t going to be a good thing or help you to live your best life. But taking time to be a little selfish can actually help you to be better all round. For instance, self care is something that you do just for you, so in that way, is a little selfish. But the consequences of that are amazing, as it rejuvenates you to be the best person, partner, parent or colleague that you can be. If you’re a people pleaser and don’t like to tell people no, then it is time to make some changes; be a little selfish and say no if things are going to lead to you burning out.

New Book Explores the Extravagant World of Yayoi Kusama

The New York Times wrote: “Yayoi Kusama transcended the art world to become a fixture of popular culture, in league with Andy Warhol, David Hockney, and Keith Haring.” And when coordinating eyes to the artist’s vibrant, unmistakable works, it is difficult to argue with this point.

From the most recent addition to Phaidon’s Contemporary Artists Series, Kusama — among the most iconic and most revolutionary artists of our time, globally famous for her boundary-pushing work on themes like infinity, self-image, sexuality and compulsive repetition — is most celebrated.

Published this October, the book by Akira Tatehata, Laura Hoptman, Udo Kultermann and Catherine Taft, coincides with the introduction of a five-storey, Yayoi Kusama museum in Tokyo, along with a major exhibition touring the US in 2017 and 2018, Including dates in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Seattle Art Museum, The Broad in Los Angeles, the Art Gallery of Ontario, along with the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Taking the reader on a visual tour through the artist’s impressive, decades-long career — from the ‘Happenings,’ which featured nude participants in 1960s’ New York, to her intensely immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms, Kusama’s ability to convey her artistic vision through different mediums is researched and recorded in the book. With over 200 color illustrations, it wholeheartedly explores the paintings, drawings, sculpture, collages, ceramics, and installations that make up her varied portfolio.

Kusama has captured the imaginations of the art world and business planet alike, having worked with an extensive range of brands during her career including BMW and Louis Vuitton. As an artist and pop-culture icon, Kusama has shown an uncanny ability to stay in the spotlight, and this timely publication offers the reader a chance to reflect on her distinctive body of work. The NY Taxi Driver Captured His Passengers For 20 Years In Very Candid Photos

Candid photographs reveal New-York City taxicab passengers, which were taken by their driver.

Photographer Ryan Weideman snapped the black-and-white images of his patrons. The majority of the ones published by DailyMail.com are from the 1980s and 1990s.

He received a master’s degree in fine arts and worked as an overnight driver on weekends to make ends meet, according to a November report from the New York Times. Weideman attached a strobe light to the sun visor – and sometimes didn’t request permission to photograph his subjects, the newspaper reported. Some of Weideman’s customers are pictured grinning in his images, while others appear worse for wear. Among the photos are shots showing the world outside the photographer’s taxicab, including roads and bustling street corners filled with people.

Weideman wrote in his 1991 book In My Taxi: New York After Hours, “When I move to New York City in the fall of 1980, it’s my first time ever in the East. By then, I know I want to be a photographer, I’m not sure how to pay the rent.”

He recalled being invited by his taxi driver neighbor to ride in the front seat during a shift’ explaining: “This is my introduction to the taxi business I decide to give a try. I drive one week on the day shift. The dense traffic is too frustrating, so I quit and request the night shift – 5 P.M. to 5 A.M.”

Giant Sculptures Created From Recycled Cardboard by James Lake

Artist James Lake has used cardboard as his medium of choice for the last twenty years. The UK based sculptor bits together layers of the material with hot glue on making free-standing Figural sculptures that are a manifestation of his picture. Lake was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 17 and started working the substance after his right leg was amputated. During rehabilitation, he searched for a material that could be accessible from his bedroom.

“I wanted a medium that may be used to sculpt beyond traditional substance and without needing an art studio,” says Lake. “The result was the fine crafting of an inexpensive common place and recyclable material. I manipulate cardboard into taking a form which is vastly beyond its original function as a container to transport food and commercial goods.”

Lake has become interested in the value his time, effort, and care placed on the disposable packaging, and continues to discover the possibilities of the versatile material. Currently, the artist conducts art workshops providing a resource to propel artist practices in local schools and colleges. You can learn more about the cardboard sculptor and his clinic in the brief video below.
