A Photographer Captured a Series of Dog’s Reactions During Treat Time

Christian Vieler from Waltrop, Germany, has been a professional dog photographer since 2016. He came up with the concept of snapping two dogs catching bites simultaneously.

The series of images, issued in September 2017, show dogs such as a set of Labradors, two Border Collies, and a few Basset Hounds since they aspire to develop into the ultimate good boy.

“I attempted to grab the faces of dogs while they are trying to catch a deal at midair, looking shocked, perplexed, joyful or sad,” Vieler explained. “My favorite image shows two Basset Hounds looking expectant toward the camera,” he added. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work as an expert dog photographer. After shooting Snapshots for four years now, I enjoy every shoot I do”.

This USSR Dog Spacesuit Is Adorable Dog Costume You Will See Today

Made from nylon, cotton, rubber, and aluminum, this USSR dog spacesuit is thought to have been worn by Belka and Strelka, the initial two dogs to return from space again in 1960. It had been used for the USSR’s Korabl-Sputnik 2 mission through the training stage, where the dogs strapped into capsules wearing the suits and launched 262,500 feet in the air before returning to the floor on parachutes. The practice was supposed to test the effects of reduced gravity and high-speed launches on the animals.

While the US used chimpanzees within their area race tests, Russian scientists picked dogs, because of their willingness to sit still for extended periods. Some of the tests included strapping puppies into capsules and launching them into a height of 80 kilometers. The capsules then delivered back to Earth by parachute.

The dog Laika became the first creature to orbit the Earth in 1957, expiring from stress and overheating around 6 hours to the flight.

Strelka then gave birth to six puppies, among which was presented as a present to John F. Kennedy‘s family.

Vivid Portraits of Adoptable Dogs by Paul Octavious

Photographer Paul Octavious casts fresh light on Chicago’s adoptable dogs through cooperation with PAWS, the city’s greatest no-kill animal refuge. Octavious, an editorial and commercial photographer, explained to Colossal that he had been on a shoot for NBC when he thought to pair the most vibrant HUE lighting setup with rescue pups that were set to be photographed with personalities by an NBC TV series. Octavious ended spotlighting the animals themselves with the HUE lighting, leading to these vibrant portraits, and he’s continued to volunteer his time helping to get Chicago’s homeless pets adopted with his ResHue Dog series. You can follow Paul on Instagram and learn more about available pets at PAWS.
