A Photographer Shares Daily Life In Poland In The Early 80s
In the early 1980s, while Gdansk and Warsaw were in the midst of a sociopolitical upheaval of great impact on a European scale, Bruno Barbey took the event to embark on a journey of almost 40,000 km over eight months.
Accompanied by his family and living in a camper, he was able to detour the stern surveillance widespread in the moment. This was an approach that allowed him to discover a tormented people in battle and a country torn between Catholicism and Communism, where the word”solidarity” actually means something.
Bruno Barbey was, “Poland was the page in History that was being composed, and it was the memory of an ancestral society on The verge of disappearing.”

Promise Rings and What To Consider When Purchasing
Giving promise rings are very beautiful and a significant tradition that may not be as well-known as the engagement ring or wedding bands. Usually, a promise ring is given when a couple is seriously dating and may be considering marriage, although not in the near future. Promise rings may actually also be given by parents to their children as a symbol of love. For others, promise rings may be a tangible reminder of a personal commitment to abstinence until marriage or a commitment to one’s faith or an advocacy.
Regardless of the reason, choosing a promise ring is an important decision. What should you consider when purchasing one?
The Message You Want to Convey
In choosing the promise ring you want to give your loved one, what message are you sending? As aforementioned, the promise ring can stand for so many things and should not be given lightly.
- Is it being given as a symbol of devotion and future commitment?
- Are you making a promise to yourself?
- Are you choosing a promise ring to celebrate a child’s or loved one’s milestone?
- Are you and your partner purchasing identical or partner rings to signify your promise to each other?
Your intentions in giving or buying a promise ring will have a bearing on the budget you set for it as well as the design you choose.
The Budget You Will Set Aside for the Promise Ring
As with buying different kinds of jewelry, budget matters. How much are you willing to spend on the promise ring you plan to give?
Generally, promise rings are not as expensive as engagement rings or wedding bands. Lack of budget for an engagement and wedding is actually one reason for giving your special someone a promise ring first. Even if it may cost significantly less, promise rings are just as meaningful and beautiful as gifts.
Your budget will dictate the kind of metal and the stones you will select for the promise ring.
The Design for the Promise Ring
There’s more to the design than meets the eye. Here are the things you need to consider in choosing your very own style for the promise ring you will buy.
- Metal
Depending on your budget, there are a variety of metals to choose from. You may choose silver, gold in rose, white or yellow color, or the more expensive and hardy platinum.
-
- Consider whether your loved one will wear the promise ring everyday or only on special occasions. Silver tends to fade easily, so only choose this metal if the promise ring will only be worn on occasion. Another affordable alternative is to choose gold-plated silver.
-
- Opt for pure gold if your loved one will wear the promise ring daily or often. If you have the money, investing in a platinum setting will be very much worth it. If you’re buying partner rings, choose the metal you will both be comfortable wearing.
- You may also want to check your loved one’s often-used pieces of jewelry. Is she more inclined to wearing jewelry in colors of silver/white gold or yellow gold? You may want the promise ring you give to match with and complement the other jewelry pieces your girlfriend or loved one regularly wears.
- Gemstone
After you choose the metal you want, you get to the very interesting part of selecting the gem you want put on the promise ring. What’s lovely is that you don’t have to stick to the traditional diamond for the promise ring you’ll give. You may choose your loved one’s birthstone or even a gem that your girlfriend finds particularly beautiful.
As affordable alternatives to diamonds, going for a gemstone is a good option. You may want to veer away from “soft” gemstones such as opal, as it gets easily broken and scratched. Pearls, on the other hand, are easily affected by water, so this might not be an option for daily wear. Reasonably-priced yet durable gems are blue and pink sapphires, rubies, amethysts, blue and white topaz. Other options are the pretty emeralds, aquamarine, and quartz with medium-hard durability.
- Personal style of the recipient
When choosing a promise ring, take into consideration the personal style of your loved one.- Does she want a slim and dainty ring?
- Would she prefer a ring that stands out and is eye-catching?
- Does she like colorful gems or not?
Matching the design of the promise ring you’ll give with her personal style will guarantee that your gift will be very much appreciated.
- Possible designs
You’ve chosen the metal and the gemstones. Now it’s time to settle on the design you want. The possibilities are endless!
- Solitaire
The most classic of all ring designs is the solitaire. This has the gemstone at the center and set on a plain band. If your girlfriend is the classic type, you can’t go wrong with choosing a solitaire ring as the design. Because it’s a promise ring, the gemstone or diamond is usually not yet as huge as it would be on an engagement ring.
- Cluster or illusion settings
More budget-friendly but just as pretty are cluster or illusion settings. Make use of tiny diamonds or gems to adorn the promise ring. The final look is a dainty and sweet arrangement of beautiful stones to convey your promise.
- Trinity
The trinity design is made up of three gemstones of the same size and placed side by side in the middle of the ring. The three stones symbolize your past, present, and future together as a couple. The idea is based on an old Irish tradition. This design makes for a unique and very meaningful promise ring.
- Eternity
Because it’s not yet an engagement but a significant step towards a lifelong commitment, another design you may want to consider would be the eternity design. Here, you have tiny diamonds or other gemstones all around the band. What’s lovely with this setting is that you may give her stackable rings for future occasions or anniversaries to wear together with your eternity promise ring.
Surprising your loved one with a promise ring is a very beautiful idea, and it is a gift filled with deep meaning. It can symbolize commitment or celebrate a milestone. Click on this link for a large selection of promise rings to choose from. The options of exquisite designs are plentiful!

Tips for Simpler Fall Cleaning
Brace yourselves… No, wait, that’s winter.
But still, you need to prepare for the upcoming season, the fall is entering the house. So you’d better make sure the house is ready for that.
There are a number of things you should see to before you can lay back in your armchair and enjoy the coziness of a fall afternoon at home.
Start with cleaning, but don’t forget to do the overall checkup, potential repairing and replacing. When it comes to the things that need to be done, cleaning experts at Clean Corp suggest to start with your spring clean list, but make sure you don’t forget to add a few season-specific chores.
To make things easier for you, here is a list of must do things if you want your house to be completely prepared for the fall.
Start with Windows
If they are really dirty, wash them thoroughly with a glass cleaner or alternatively with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and water in a spray bottle. Use a microfiber cloth and avoid cotton at all costs as it will leave marks on the glass.
A lot of people always focus on cleaning the glass and forget about the other parts. So make sure you clean and vacuum the window frame and valance.
What’s more, you should take care of the window blinds and shades by either vacuuming them as well, or submerging them into cool water mixed with a couple of teaspoons of dishwashing liquid. Of course, if this is appropriate for the type of material or fabric they are made of. And make sure you take out all the metal parts as they might get rusty.
While you’re there, take care of the curtains as well. You can machine wash them on the ‘delicates’ setting if they are cotton, wool, rayon or polyester. In case they are made of silk, satin, linen or lace, by all means, send them to professional cleaning.
And Move to the Walls
This shouldn’t take as much time as window cleaning, yet it needs to be done. Just imagine how much dirt is going to accumulate on them during fall and winter, so it’s better to start from zero.
Simply dust the walls, wash and rinse them, and of course, finally dry them. If you feel like bringing on some change, try some new wallpaper, but maybe it’s better to leave the painting for some other season.
Try to reach the ceiling as well and at least dust it, just be careful. And don’t forget to dust all the light fixtures mounted up there. While you’re at it, you might as well inspect the ceilings in your house for potential spots and cracks which might indicate a plumbing or leaking problem, which seems inconspicuous at the moment, but might become (literally) overwhelming once the rain seasons starts.
Back to the Ground
After all this, it’s time to pay some attention to the floors. The best cleaners in Atlanta suggest to leave the floors for last, so you wouldn’t have to clean them twice.
When it comes to carpets, depending on how often you clean them and well you keep them, a simple vacuuming and rubbing might be just enough. However, it’s always a good idea to take your carpets to deep cleaning.
Just like with the walls, there is a tough season of high frequency and low airing ahead of them, so they better be prepared.
This is also an opportunity to peek under the carpet and check on your floors, especially if they are wooden. Just like with ceilings, look for scratches, cracks or lumps as they might (though they don’t necessarily have to) indicate to some deeper problem.
Vacuum, Sweep, Wipe
Once you cover the three major house dimension, you can dedicate to everything else. Vacuum all the upholstered furniture and cushions and wash all the covers. You can also get some of those items professionally deep cleaned.
When you’re done with that, spend some time in the kitchen and thoroughly clean all the cupboards, as well as the surfaces. Empty the cupboards and drawers, clean and wipe them, throw out the unnecessary things and make some room for the fall/winter supplies and specialties.
Don’t skip your fridge and make sure you clean from all the expired items, as well as to gently vacuum the condenser coil by using the brush extension on your vacuum cleaner.
Speaking of electric devices, you might do your PC a favor and finally do that cleaning that’s been long due. As usual, wipe the keyboard, mouse, and monitor, but also make sure this time you dust the case as well.
Don’t Leave Anything to Chance
The heating season is approaching and by no means do you want anything to go off, one way or the other. So to be on the safe side, check, and if necessary, replace your furnace filters.
Don’t skip the chimney, fireplace, stove flues or whatever similar system you might have and make sure you get them professionally checked and swept.
Finally, don’t forget to test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. In case you still don’t have them, do get them installed.
The fall is a magical season for some, and for others, it is the beginning of the end of the year, but we all want to have a nice and clean home, so cleaning is a must.

Surviving the Struggles of Winter: How to Care for Your Mental Health
Winter is the time to cozy up in front of the fire and to snuggle in with your loved ones and perhaps a nice big mug of hot chocolate. It is also the time that we see the least amount of sun and get the most exercise. As such, winters happen to be the time of year that we are actually at our least healthiest. This can impact our energy levels or worse, our mental health. That is why treating yourself to a big fun in the sun trip in winter can help you overcome all of winter’s woes and put a smile back onto your face:
Increase Your Intake of Vitamins and Nutrients
Winter is the time of comfort foods, but that is no excuse to let your body suffer. Ensure you are getting enough vitamins straight from the source. A great way to do this is to skip the “fresh food” aisle and go straight for the frozen foods. In winter, the fresh food very often needs to travel great distances to get to your grocery store. The longer the food is in transit, the less nutritious it becomes. Frozen food, on the other hand, was frozen on site, meaning that in comparison it could be the healthier option. The more nutrients you include in your diet, the better your health and immune system will be throughout winter.
Try to Stay Active (Even Though It’s Too Cold Outside)
In general, people are most active during the warmer months. The weather is nice, the sun is shining, and it makes sense to go for a walk around a market or to go on a nice bike ride. In winter, however, the cold, miserable weather often has people stuck indoors. Even places that used to have snow regularly are experiencing milder and milder winters as the years go on. This means fewer opportunities to enjoy winter sports and more wet, cold weather we want to hide away from. Rather than let the cold make you into a couch potato, find fun exercise classes you can do indoors. You’ll have fun, get your exercise in, and even make friends.
Book a Winter Holiday
Overcast skies can seriously impact both your physical health and your mental health. When your winters are full of dark days, this can really take a toll on you. That’s why you need to treat yourself with a trip abroad to a sunny, warm destination. There are so many budget-friendly holidays for winter sun out there, and by booking one during the dead-part of winter (i.e., January), you can enjoy a boost of Vitamin D and enjoy a much-needed break at the same time.
Make Plans in Advance with Your Friends and Family
Going outside when its cold and miserable is a challenge, and this can mean that far too many people become distanced from their close friends and family. Instead of letting the cold get the better of you, make plans in advance. If the event is ticketed, then you give everyone (including yourself) another incentive to go. This way you can stay social and enjoy the company of friends and family throughout winter.
Winter can be just as magical and exciting as summer, but only if you plan right and safeguard your health. Stay healthy, stay active, and stay social. Do this, and you can beat those winter blues away in no time.

How Freelance Artists Can Avoid Getting Stiffed
It would be nice to live in a world where everyone was honest and paid artists as they should. Sadly, that is not a reality. An artist should accept that some people may try to stiff you. You do not want to be in that position, and the following should help ensure that you get paid for your work.

Draft a Contract
One thing you need to do as an artist is draft a contract. This may seem like you are going too far, especially when you are dealing with someone you know but it is a necessary step. It is even possible that family may stiff you for the work you do.
You want to make sure that you include a clear breakdown of what the other party is paying for. The contract should also include a statement of rights, which is a fancy way of stating who own’s what. It is important to discuss consequences of non-payment, such as interest fees or revoked ownership. Those who do not feel comfortable drafting a contract can look up a freelance contract template or contact a lawyer.

Make Partial Payment a Requirement
Another step you should take is making sure that no contract is initiated until partial payment is paid. It may be harder to get clients when you ask them to pay a specific amount before you begin working, but you are taking a chance on each other. This is a simple way of building trust.
Make sure you include your required partial payment in the contract and specify what the client can expect from you after paying that initial amount. Being as clear as you can about this payment makes it easier to trust you. Try to remember that you are doing this to avoid getting stiffed, which is a lot more detrimental to your life than missing out on a potential client and wasting your time.

Do an Extensive Online Search
Another tool that might be helpful to you is an online people search site that allows you to find out more about a person’s background. All you need is some basic information from a potential client in order to search online. You can find out information on this person’s professional affiliations or assets.
You can also get police arrest records, criminal history, and any liens. All of this information should help you evaluate a potential client before you do business with him or her. Be sure to use more than just a free site to ensure you get all the information rather than just partial information. Hopefully, this information helps you deal with a more trustworthy client.

Use Social Media to Your Advantage
You may still work for a client who will try to stiff you, no matter how much you try to avoid it. You probably already know to employ tactics like sending an invoice or emailing the client about payment. You might have even called a few times to politely inquire about payment without seeing a positive result. At this point, you might want to consider turning your attention online.
Everything online is recorded, and every action has the potential of reaching a number of people at a time. This is something all businesses and individuals are aware of, which you can use to your advantage. What you want to do is post a comment inquiring about payment. Make sure your comment is clear but as professional as possible. Online reputation is vital for business owners and individuals, so this step may help get you paid.
These are just some steps you can take to ensure you get paid as a freelance artist. You should find out more about the laws regarding freelance work in your state because they are different from state to state.

Starting Your Own Business
Starting your own business can be a wonderful journey in which you will discover a lot about yourself, about the people you choose to share this experience with and about the project itself. It involves a lot of hard work and a lot of preparation, but the results are worth it.

Creative Work and Research
When you embark on your entrepreneurial adventure you are probably trying to bring into shape a dream that you’ve had for a while already, but maybe the road to self-employment doesn’t start off the same for everyone. So, if all you are certain of is that you have to start working on a project of your own in order to reach both professional and financial satisfaction, then the first thing to do is to come up with an idea for your future business.
If you think the creative effort stops here, then you should know that what follows next will involve at least an approval effort on your part and a thorough analysis of the creative work done by someone else. Keep this in mind, as you will be the decision maker in the development of your brand and of the marketing strategy that will most likely make or break your business.
And this new status- being the decision maker- is something that you need to mentally prepare for. There are a lot of tools that you can use in the process of reaching a decision such as a SWOT or a Pareto analysis. Even if you find that the decision making process weighs heavily on your shoulders, you should consider the fact that if you start this project together with a business partner, which is the case more often than not, then decisions will have to be reached together with your associate, which might prove challenging at times.

Knowledge
In order to create the right identity and to opt for a successful promoting strategy you will have to do a lot of serious research in order to know all that there is to know about your products or services, the market, your clients and the competition.
This being the Internet era you will probably need to learn about digital marketing, what it means to have a user friendly website and SEO strategies.
In order to make sure you stay on top of your game, you should also consider taking some business administration courses, which will probably prove to be one of the most valuable ways you can invest in yourself and in your project.

Great Entrepreneurs Have Great Allies
Another critical point in developing your own business is starting and cultivating a network of associates that will help your project become a success.
You will need the right kind of connections for defining and promoting your brand, products and/or services, both online and offline. You will probably also enlist the help of a great legal advisor that can help you a lot, especially in the beginning, when you have to deal with the paperwork involved in starting up your company. As your project takes off and things start going in the right direction, you will probably need to hire a great accountant as well, and the list goes on.

Financing
Regarding the funding of your project there are several options to consider.
You can either save up for it, which might mean you postpone implementing your project until you have the budget to sustain the process.
Another way to go is to partner up with someone in order to split the costs involved.
Of course, this could be done with a willing friend or you may have to find investors by networking.
One inventive financial solution that some smart business owners have turned to is online investment platforms. These social platforms provide exposure to businesses. Companies can be seen by investors who are looking to diversify. The only thing you have to do is come up with a pitch and an alluring business plan. It takes away some of the legwork of actually looking for investors on your own.
Yet another way you can solve the matter of having the right budget for starting your own project is to consider taking a loan.
One of the best pieces of advice offered by entrepreneurs is to plan your budget very well, to take into account that no action is risk-free and to always assume that there will be some losses.

Attracting the Right People
One thing to remember about any team is that it is as strong as its weakest member. In order to make your project a success, you will need to find the right people that you can share your dream with, and that will put the same amount of passion and effort into making this dream a reality as you will. In the infancy of any business, teams are usually small, agile and well knit together. Seeing how different is better, you can take advantage of the leverage this status quo offers you, in order to deliver a more personal and customized customer experience.
An interesting way some startup businesses are recruiting passionate talent is by hiring independent contractors. This industry has skyrocketed through social media platforms, and you can benefit from this rise.
You can hire some of these independent contractors for a job or two, and evaluate their work ethics or how they might fit in with your company. At some point, you can offer a paid position to one of these contractors when you find a candidate you like.

Pay It Forward
No matter where your dreams take you, try to remember where you first started out and the journey that brought you to your destination. Your experience can teach others, so try to share the lessons you’ve learned and the wisdom you’ve gained, in order to help others succeed in their own projects. Plus, paying it forward is another way to build your network. A small company can succeed, and the owner you’re assisting may end up helping you expand your business out of gratitude. Being a small business owner means you are part of a team, and your actions should show that.

5 Common Liposuction Myths
In the digital age, it’s become incredibly easy to simply do a search online to find an answer. While this has most certainly proved to add immense benefits to our lives – it has also lead to culture filled with myths and lost truths. This could not be truer for the cosmetic surgery industry, especially with liposuction. Such myths and misperceptions have led to confused consumers, leading to misinformed decisions.
In today’s article, our goal is to offer the truth veiled by some of the most common myths that are surrounding this cosmetic surgery. With more and more people heading to their local plastic surgeons – we hope this information can shine light to make an well-informed decision.

1. Liposuction is for Weight Loss
When it comes to liposuction, one of the biggest myths that people believe is that the procedure is great for weight-loss. In truth, liposuction is not a means or medium for weight loss. In fact, many surgeons and experts have warned consumers not to expect a significant change as far as weight-loss. The entire purpose behind liposuction is really to help improve aesthetic appearance. Keep in mind this is a cosmetic procedure, not a weight-loss procedure.

2. Liposuction is Painless
If you are being told that liposuction is painless, it’s not the truth. The truth is that each human being experiences pain at a different degree. Simply because one patient claims they did not experience any pain does not mean the same is true for another patient. With that being said, the amount of discomfort or pain that one will experience depends entirely upon the specific area being targeted. Evidently, the larger the area, the increase chances of discomfort or pain.

3. Liposuction is for Women
At one point in time, many people thought that liposuction was for women only. However, this is far from the truth as more and more men are signing up and heading to plastic surgeon offices to inquire about liposuction. In fact, in accordance to Men’s News Daily, there is a significant rise in the amount of men heading in for liposuction. Here’s a fun fact for you: the only primary difference between the procedure for men and women is the costs; and a surgery for a man costs more than a female.

4. Liposuction Removes Cellulite
One of the biggest misperceptions that people believe with liposuction is that this cosmetic procedure can remove cellulite. Now, while it would seem convenient that this procedure could do this – the American Academy of Dermatology has made it known that it’s NOT a qualified treatment by any means. In fact, according to their studies, liposuction may actually accentuate cellulite. As a result, dimpling make become more apparent in some patients.
